NetSuite is a Life Raft for Companies Struggling with Digital Transformation

2024-05-02

As many companies are painfully aware, digital transformation projects do not always succeed on the first attempt, especially when software and service providers over-promise and under deliver, or when rollouts are planned poorly.

Yet a failed implementation do not mean that a business can simply abandon digital transformation. For any company serious about growing globally and staying competitive, digital transformation is no longer optional. As a result, many companies suffer through a long process of trial and error and even multiple failed implementations before identifying a viable digital transformation solution for their company.

Boilerman, a global marine boiler repair group, is one such example. Boilerman was forced to abandon two successive ERP implementation projects after it became clear that each of the ERP service providers was unable to meet the project goals. Thankfully, with Oracle NetSuite and Trigger Networks, the third time is proving the charm for the company. Boilerman has chosen Oracle NetSuite to serve as the platform to drive the digital transformation of their global business and they have selected NetSuite implementation partner Trigger Networks to lead the rollout of the project. The high level goals of Boilerman’s digital transformation initiative are to accelerate global business expansion, improve company-wide data transparency, and to empower management and team members at every level of the business.

Boilerman’s services include maintenance, repair, spare parts provision and technical solutions for marine boilers and they serve companies in the ocean-going vessel sector throughout Mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia. The first phase of the Oracle NetSuite implementation shall focus on the production and project service operations of Boilerman’s subsidiaries in Shanghai and Singapore. Specific objectives for the first phase of Boilerman’s digital transformation include the automation and elimination of redundant manual work processes, and the integration and systemization of the company’s operational and financial work streams.

President Zhu commented: “we certainly learned a lot from the unsuccessful implementations we experienced prior to this project, not least the importance of choosing the right software platform and service provider! We spent a lot of time talking to Trigger Networks during our vendor evaluation phase. The successes of Trigger’s customers in using Oracle NetSuite and Trigger’s rich project experience gave us a lot of confidence and helped us get a clearer picture of what an effective ERP implementation could look like for us. We will adopt a cautious, incremental approach to digital transformation. When ERP service providers don’t deliver project successfully, it can put immense pressure on a business, both on its finances and on the morale of the team. Since we have been disappointed by ERP service providers twice already, no one knows this better than we do!

“We will be treading carefully, but we are glad that we have finally identified a viable business management platform and a trustworthy partner to help us achieve our digital transformation goals”.
